I built a
sweet wall unit for our condo, but it never really fit anywhere in our new home. Thankfully, a couple came over one day and saw it and wanted it, so it's in a new home now. This freed me up to build one that fit perfectly where we wanted it. It's built from pecan/hickory plywood, and I left the plywood edge exposed.

I really love the look of the exposed edging.
ReplyDeleteIf I can ask, what sort of joinery did you use (I'm *just* getting started woodworking myself)?
Hey Dave, I'm glad you dig the look. I used splines for the joinery, meaning I cut a slot in both pieces of wood to be joined, then slipped a strip of wood in both slots with glue and clamped them together. It's basically a long, floating tenon.
ReplyDeletePretty good post. I just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed reading your blog posts. Any way I'll be subscribing to your feed and I hope you post again soon.
