Storage Platform Bed with Night Stands from zebra and rosewood
I built this set for my friend and photographer extraordinaire Matt Wignall. He wanted a bed with storage but suggested the sliding door approach (as opposed to drawers). He wanted me to use rosewood, and I thought of the zebra wood accent, which gave it a cool jungle vibe. He took all of the photos, and his friend Neil provided the house, the quilt, chair, books, etc.

San Francisco
My wife, daughter, and myself recently ventured up to San Francisco to deliver furniture to four different homes in the city. We met some great people, ate great food and got some great exercise walking all over the city.
In the interest of full disclosure, I did not build this night stand, but I love the way it looks with this bed, which I did build. |

The Margrethe aka Danish Modern Style Bed Version 3.0 with Storage
This is the same design as before, but the headboard is about 5 inches wider and extends lower, so that there is no gap between the mattress and the headboard. This is because the particular client in question was worried about pillows slipping through said gap. Even though my wife and I have never experienced this problem, I get this request quite often, so I figured I should have an option for those with allusive pillows.
The other addition is the storage, which is the same design I've used before (two long, floating drawers that slide to both sides) but this is the first time I've used it with this bed design.
I'm calling this the Margrethe because, in a previous post, I asked for name suggestions, and someone named Else suggested I name it after the Queen of Denmark. Done!

Danish Modern Style Bed Version 2.0
I revised the design from before, bringing the headboard out flush with the back of the bed, and echoing the soft curve of the front legs with the back legs (if that makes sense). I built this out of walnut. I sold it to a couple who lives in a rad home up on a cliff in Silverlake- we had to haul it up about 100 steps to get to the house! I'm stoked on where it ended up though, it's a great home and great people.
p.s. I want to start coming up with names for these original designs, but I haven't been able to think of anything yet. Submissions are welcome!

Wall Unit/Record Case
I built a sweet wall unit for our condo, but it never really fit anywhere in our new home. Thankfully, a couple came over one day and saw it and wanted it, so it's in a new home now. This freed me up to build one that fit perfectly where we wanted it. It's built from pecan/hickory plywood, and I left the plywood edge exposed.
