Could you tell me how you connected the pieces of wood because I fail to see how the wood holds the weight of the bed + the weight of the people who sleep on it.
The corners of the platform are held together with a mortise and tenon joint that is reinforced with an angle brace and a pocket screw, so it's a pretty rock solid joint. There is also a middle cross bar that is supported by three legs.
This blog is dedicated to showcasing the furniture design and construction of yours truly, Peter Deeble. I build furniture in my garage-turned-studio in Long Beach, California.
I began building things with my dad as a kid, fashioning my own cases for records and instruments and other such wares. I also built countless skateboarding ramps with my friends. As long as I can remember I've had a proclivity for inventing and creating things, and as such woodworking has always been a natural outlet for that. A few years ago my attention turned to furniture as my passion for carpentry deepened.
My aesthetic tends towards modern and minimal, mid century modern, Danish modern, etc. and usually involves solid hardwood such as walnut, cherry, maple, rosewood etc. You can contact me at deeblep (at) hotmail.com and you can also follow me on instagram @petedeeble.
