Rosewood Storage Bed

I built this bed for a couple with a sweet house in Los Feliz. This bed is in a guest bedroom with an amazing Danish modern wall unit on the opposing wall. Everything about their home had me in awe, so I'm psyched to have one of my pieces there. The bed is built from solid rosewood, including the headboard, which is comprised of 7 boards glued together and sanded with much blood, sweat and tears and a combination of drum sander, belt sander, orbital sander, and hand paper. I hated every minute of it and wondered why I didn't just use a veneer, but when it was done and in place I was thankful that I did it the way I did- it looks stunning.

Solid Cherry Table Top

I made this table top for my friends Josh and Rafi, a.k.a. Form Los Angeles. It's 5 planks of solid cherry joined and cut to an oval with a cove edge detail. I used some type of dark, non-toxic oil that Josh and Rafi found. The legs were fabricated by someone else. The overall effect is pretty strong.

About Me

Pete and Jana Deeble
Long Beach, California, United States
This blog is dedicated to showcasing the furniture design and construction of yours truly, Peter Deeble. I build furniture in my garage-turned-studio in Long Beach, California. I began building things with my dad as a kid, fashioning my own cases for records and instruments and other such wares. I also built countless skateboarding ramps with my friends. As long as I can remember I've had a proclivity for inventing and creating things, and as such woodworking has always been a natural outlet for that. A few years ago my attention turned to furniture as my passion for carpentry deepened. My aesthetic tends towards modern and minimal, mid century modern, Danish modern, etc. and usually involves solid hardwood such as walnut, cherry, maple, rosewood etc. You can contact me at deeblep (at) hotmail.com and you can also follow me on instagram @petedeeble.
